Many associations and class groups run a welfare or bereavement fund: members contribute monthly or per event, and the fund supports members in hard times. Usually it runs on a personal M-Pesa number, a typed list in a WhatsApp group and one treasurer’s memory. Since M-Pesa began masking senders’ numbers, matching payments to people has become harder still, and disputes follow when records are unclear.

Yes. Create an appeal with a target, share it with members by WhatsApp, SMS or email, and everyone sees the progress.

Is it only for alumni associations?
